For entering Principal residence, you can click on the "Find" icon at the top tool bar on your TTO account, type principal residence- select principal residence from the search results and enter details of PR on the form
When you open your return go to the left-hand side menu and click on My INFO- Contact Information. This will open the page where you will enter your mailing address - please read and answer the questions correctly.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Your answer indicates where the mailing residence is entered, but not the home address. This information is important to me as my home address is the same as my business address (and therefore there are associated deductions). It is not clear to me that all my home office expenses will be properly deducted unless this is clear. To point, I have provided my mailing address early in the questionnaire, and then indicated in a check box that my mailing address is not where I live. Yet when I get to the self employment section it asks me if "you use your home address for your .... work?" and I say yes. Then a few screen later in a summary, my business address is shown as my mailing address. I am confused.
The mailing address at the start of the tax return is the contact address that the CRA should use if they need to contact you by mail. You don't actually have to live there.
You can go back to the self-employment section and edit your business. As you continue through, you'll get back to the question where it asks if you use your home address for your work. You can change that to "no" and then you'll get a spot to enter an address. You can put your home address here, if it's different from the contact address that you entered at the start. You can still claim home office expenses even if you use a PO box (or some other arrangement) for a mailing address instead of your home address.
