Open TurboTax
According to your Q/A section I should be able to load and run TurboTax 2025 under Windows 10. I just purchased it from Amazon and the install says I need Windows 11. Is there an updated installer?
Thank you,
Paul Hunter
@user17713683660 Though we recommend using Windows 11, the Canadian version of TurboTax Desktop 2025 will run on Windows 10. Please see this TurboTax Canada FAQ for more information: How does the end of support for Windows 10 affect my TurboTax Desktop experience?
For US TurboTax support, please visit their website: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/

I understand that you are saying that the Canadian 2025 standard desktop will work with W10 if you choose it at the beginning of the install. My concern, (and I haven't seen this asked yet) is that 2025 requires 1ghz processor.
This is what I have copied from my system information:
Processor AMD A10-9700 RADEON R7, 10 COMPUTE CORES 4C+6G, 3500 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Will this work? And if not what are my Canadian options?
Thank you all for your help here!
@reweston1724 TurboTax 2025 is compatible with Windows 10. And here are the system requirements:
Operating systems
Windows 10 or 11
Processor
1 Ghz or faster
RAM
1 GB or more
Hard disk space
500 MB for TurboTax (plus up to 4.5 GB for Microsoft .NET 4.8 if not already installed)
Third-party software
- Microsoft .NET 4.8 (included with TurboTax Installer)
- Adobe Reader 10 or higher (or compatible PDF reader). Not included with TurboTax Installer.
Internet connection
1 Mbps modem (Broadband connection highly recommended). Required for product activation, software updates, and optional online features.
Internet browser
Microsoft Edge
Monitor
1024x768 or higher
Audio
Windows-compatible sound card and speakers or headphones to play multimedia
Printer
Any Windows-compatible inkjet or laser printer. Administrative rights are required.
Note: TurboTax may be installed on three computers and must be activated via an internet connection.
Starting with the tax year 2024, CDs will not be supported.
Thank you for your prompt reply. And please forgive my ignorance, as I am not a computer savvy person.
I have read all those requirements and believe I meet them all but the one that confuses me is the processor speed. it says 3500 Mhz, 4 core. Does that mean each core is 3500mhz? Or is the entire processor speed 3500 and therefore does not meet the requirement?
"Processor AMD A10-9700 RADEON R7, 10 COMPUTE CORES 4C+6G, 3500 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)"
Will this work? And if not what are my Canadian options?
Thank you for your patience. Ü
@reweston1724 You have 3.5 GHz (3500 MHz).
In computing, processor speed is measured per core rather than as a sum. You are not only meeting the requirement; you are significantly faster. Your processor is a quad-core chip. TurboTax is a relatively "light" program, resembling a smart calculator with an appealing interface. It does not require a high-end gaming computer. Your 3.5 GHz per core processor will effortlessly handle the tax calculations and the "EasyStep" interview.
You shouldn't have any trouble downloading TurboTax Desktop version 2025. As with the other options, TurboTax Online (DIY) can be used instead of the Desktop version if necessary.
Thank you for that! You've made me happy!
Have a great day and thanks for the lesson!

Did you file using Turbo Tax last year or is this your first time using TT?
LOL forget my question, sounds like your all set
Excellent. thanks for letting folks know.
Hi, I have installed the Canadian TurboTax 2025 and am using Windows 10 with the Microsoft extended 1-year service but when I run it, it just dies:
Faulting application name: tt2025.exe, version: 2025.0.0.5003, time stamp: 0x69a6d941
Faulting module name: MSVCR110.dll, version: 11.0.51106.1, time stamp: 0x5098858e
Exception code: 0xc00000fd
Fault offset: 0x000267f9
Faulting process ID: 0x6de8
I have "repaired" the MSVCR110.dll both 64 and 32-bit versions.
Why can't I run it?
Please help
