Your purchase only covers the tax year in question. When it's time to prepare your tax return for tax year 2018, you'll need to purchase tax software for tax year 2018.

So that means the remaining 7 returns are useless now? I can't use them next year??

Yes, that's right. If you only need one or two returns this year, consider purchasing just the returns you need and then give us a call for a refund on your 8-return purchase.
