This FAQ lists some possible reasons why TurboTax is telling you that you are self-employed: https://turbotax.community.intuit.ca/community/navigating-turbotax/help/why-is-turbotax-telling-me-i...

I'm having this problem as well. I'm getting an error saying:

"Your province of self-employment is different from your province of residence. TTO does not support Multijurisdictional returns. Review your entries."

I went back and checked to confirm I had not clicked the button about being self-employed and had checked that I was employed and had T4s showing my employment. I want to correct this contraction and be able to file my return!

Do you have any other slips? Like a T4 slip with box 81, 82 or 83, or a T4A slip with box 20, 48 or box 28? If yes, CRA will consider you to be self-employed- all you would need to do in this case would be to enter your name as business name and your home address as business address and continue.  Then you will be able to file your return.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

@dendeb If you've entered an amount from any of the boxes on the slips listed here, you have what the CRA considers to be self-employment or business income:

  • T4 slip: box 81, 82 or 83
  • T4A slip: box 20 or 48
  • T4A slip: box 28 and you answered Yes to the question Does the income declared in Box 028 consist of fees collected for services you provided? in TurboTax Online
  • T3 slip: box 24 (foreign business income)

If you have an amount in any of these boxes, TurboTax will ask additional questions to report the income as self-employment/business income. You only need to answer basic information, such as business name and address (can be your own), industry code, and fiscal period (Jan 01 to December 31).
