Why is there an amount shown for box 66 of my T4 when I did not leave my job?

I’m in the same job as I had been since 2019. On my T4 there is an amount of about $3300 that is in box 66. The is amount is making it so I’m being told I owe money instead of getting a return, which should not be the case. I did not receive this amount at any point during the year.

As per CRA: "A retiring allowance is an amount you receive on or after retirement from an office or employment in recognition of long service. You may also receive this amount if you lose your office or employment, whether you were dismissed or have resigned.”

Please check this CRA website to learn more about retiring allowance.

You should check with your employer if the amount has been transferred to your RRSP.

Here is the link on how to enter eligible retiring allowance that has been transferred to an RRSP using TurboTax.
