The first screen of this year's Turbotax asks if you want to transfer your information and prepare your returns together, or whether you want to do them separately. This is confusing. I want to do them at the same time, as I've done every year, but still have separate returns. It's unclear if that first choice still leads to separate returns (as we have separate businesses), or if it means we'll be filing together, which won't work for us.
Unlike in some other countries, Canada doesn't have joint filing for spouses/partners. So, even if you prepare your return together with your spouse, you will still be submitting two separate returns.
