The question is not clear whether the Canada Caregiver amount that you are claiming is for whom.
As per
CRA, Canada Caregiver Credit can be claimed if
you support your spouse, or a dependant that has a
physical or mental impairment. For instance, a person's spouse is mentally impaired and the person supports his spouse therefore the person would claim the Canada Caregiver Credit.
Another example, the husband and wife has a child who is mentally impaired (the child is a dependant). In this case, either the husband or wife can claim the credit or they both can claim it by splitting the amount but it should not exceed the maximum amount.
