T3/RL 16 - Box 21

Hello,

I have a capital gain of $104.90 showing on my T3 (Boxes 52 and 53 add up to this amount - $41 + 63.90 respectively).  On the Quebec side, Box A = $104.90 with Boxes A-5 and A-6 adding up to this amount).

Turbo Tax shows 2 boxes of Box 21 on the T3 and reports the $104.90 under each.  One is Capital Gains = $104.90 and the other, Foreign Capital Gains = $104.90.  Seems odd to me that it would fall under both.  BMU is noted for the source country of foreign income.

Thanking you in advance.

On an actual T3 slips Box 21 is your Total Capital Gains. In TurboTax, a second Box 21 has been added so that you can separate your Foreign Capital Gains from your Total Capital Gains. In your case, they happen to be the same amount, but some people might have only a portion of their gains from foreign sources.
