The Transport Employee deduction applies to Meals & Lodging for these type of employees:

  • You work for an airline, railway, bus, or trucking company, or for any other employer whose main business is transporting goods, passengers, or both.

If you had to travel somewhere "away from your Employer's Place of Business" for work, you could claim your flights as an "employment expense" if your employer completes and signs a T2200 form stating this was necessary for your job.

You cannot claim anything if you were travelling to and from work. For example, your employer's place of business is in one city and you live in another city but choose not to move closer to work
