I bought the deluxe package last yr from costco. I am trying to file taxes this yr but why is it asking me to pay this yr if the package includes 8 returns?

Each year of TurboTax only has the forms for the one year. So with TurboTax Deluxe Online 2022 you get 8 returns for 2022 only. You would have to buy the software for every year that you need to do.

Will I be able to do a return for a different person under one deluxe package since it has 8 returns or is it just for myself?

Same happened to me as well. We just used 2 returns from our 8 return pack of last year's return since our household has only two tax payers. This is not a good marketing. This must be clear from your product when we buy them from Costco. I am really disappointed. Sorry but you guys lost my trust :(

@dvadhwana The reason you cannot use the last year software to file taxes for the current year because every year tax laws and regulations gets changed by CRA. For accurate calculations and to follow new tax rules and regulations every year we do need to make these changes to our product.

Thanks for the reply. In this case, you should have offered a way for user to carry forward the unused licenses to next year.

@dvadhwana you can still prepare more returns for the same year if you haven't used all of them. As advised earlier the reason you cannot use the same license code it is linked to the specific year and you cannot use the last year software to file taxes for the current year because every year tax laws and regulations gets changed by CRA. For accurate calculations and to follow new tax rules and regulations every year we do need to make these changes to our product.

we do offer TurboTax Online  Version ( Pay per Return) if that is something you would like to consider using in future.
