My wife's self employment business office at home had all the home office expenses claim provided a calculated deduction of zero. Is this it because she has a loss?

The answer is yes. 

  • As per CRA, The amount you can deduct for work-space-in-the-home expenses is limited to the amount of employment income remaining after all other employment expenses have been deducted.
  • You cannot use workspace expenses to create or increase a loss from employment.
