Self-employed + basic

My spouse uses the self-employed tier from TurboTax, I use the basic. TurboTax encourages filing together, but they charge both of us the highest tier service (self-employed). Why is it difficult to separate the charges for plans by person?

If you are preparing your returns together with a spouse, then both returns are in the same file, so both will be using the same version of TurboTax.

If you don't want to use the same version as your spouse, you can prepare your returns separately.
