My Sons was a university student. Turbo Tax did not include Schedule ON(S11) in his return for his tuition fees. Is there a software bug?

Unfortunately, Ontario also no longer has tuition or education tax credits. So, you will only get a Schedule ON(S11) in your return if you are carrying forward amounts from before 2017.

If Ontario no longer has tuition or credits, why is turbo tax asking me to go look at my student line 1 of the PROVINCIAL S11 for tax year 2024? Turbo tax also put a number in there and I have no clue where it got it from...

Line 1 of the ON S11 is "Unused tuition and education amounts", which someone might still have if it has been carried forward from before 2017. If there is a number there, it may have come in when you used Auto-Fill, or if you transferred information from your last year's return.

Well, I didn't put that number there so Turbotax must have pulled it from outside.  And its like over 17K

I checked her 2023 NOA for the federal and they dont mention anything about unused tuition. 

She started University in 2021 so those credits are not coming from ON S11 before 2017.

If it's incorrect you can remove it.

If you are using TurboTax Online, search for “Student” on the Tax Home page. On the Student Profile keep “Unused tuition fees and education amounts from previous years” selected and continue forward until you get to that page. Remove the incorrect amount and click “Continue” to save. You can then go back to the Student Profile and uncheck the box if you want.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop in EasyStep mode, select Deductions & Credits > Students from the left side menu. On the Student Profile keep “Unused tuition fees and education amounts from previous years” selected and continue forward until you get to that page. Remove the incorrect amount, then you can go back to the Student Profile and uncheck the box if you want.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop in Forms mode, search for the Carry Fwd worksheet.
