I am in Ontario.
I received a T4A detailing the money received from an OSAP grant (not loan). The OSAP grant covers the whole of my tuition.
I also received a T2202A detailing the tuition I paid in 2018.
On TurboTax, when you enter your T2202A it says, "Don’t claim any amounts if you were reimbursed for any portion of the cost of the course."
When I search for help on this quote the only information I get back relates to if an employer reimburses you for the costs. Does an OSAP grant count as reimbursement? Or is it a separate thing since it's a grant/bursary?
If it does count as reimbursement, do I enter the amount on the T2202A at all?
Since you received a grant to cover your tuition, you'll enter both the T4A (box 105 option for FT students) and the T2202A in full. A grant isn't the same as reimbursement so there's no need to enter the grant amount in the tuition section, just enter it in the T4A section.
