Did you claim the CWB, and if yes, were you a student?
No, I was not a student.
I also had a calculation error reported by the CRA, the refund was lower than what was calculated by TurboTax. The area is the federal tax area. I have used this program for many years and help other family members with filing so this concerns me that it is not accurate or is the issue on the CRA side?
@maliciousgoose103 To be eligible for the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB), you must be a Canadian resident, at least 19 years old (or younger if living with a spouse/partner/child), earn working income, and have a net income below the thresholds set for your province or territory. If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, CRA will automatically remove the Tax credit for you.
I qualified for the CWB last year. I have qualified for it this year as well.
CWB is not the problem. I did a quick check with your free estimator online and the amount matched my CRA refund. There is an error in the desktop Turbo Tax.
If there is a difference between what TurboTax calculated and what the CRA calculated, then your NOA should say what the CRA changed. Did the NOA say that the CWB was removed or reduced? Or did they make a change that made you ineligible for the CWB (ex: too much income)?
As stated previously this is not related to CWB. This is what was stated on the NOA;
We changed your total payable from $********** to $********* because of a calculation error.
I have removed the values for privacy.
I understand that.. I assumed CWB as that was the amount difference between the calculation. I am using TurboTax online so, it is not a desktop issue. I am trying to find out the issue.. Is it Turbo Tax if so, do they guarantee the difference when it is the mistake of TurboTax. I had done my mothers and my girlfriends with no issues in their calculations. So, it is not the software either.
