My husband died in 2022 but I didn't receive a death benefit until 2023.  In which year should I declare this as income?

I’m sorry to hear of your loss.

You will get a T4A(P) or a T3 tax slip for the death benefit. So, if you got one for the 2022 tax year, then you would put it on your 2022 return. If you didn't get one for this year, then you'll get one next year for 2023.
