The tuition transfer credit is non-refundable, meaning that it can only be used to help lower the amount of tax that you need to pay. It will not create or increase a refund. So if neither you nor your spouse owe anything, then the tuition transfer will not add to your refund. 

 

If one of you did have taxes owning, double check that they are the ones getting the transfer amount.
