Hi all:
Re yesterday's e-mail from Turbo Tax regarding CRA relief. Good, a better solution would be a fix, but hey!
A few questions though: What if TT won't let me get to the filing stage, this has happened to me?
How is CRA going to identify who the TT users who couldn't file are? DO NOT tell us this is an issue for all e-filers, we know this is not the case.
What proof is CRA going to ask for to make us eligible for relief?
Is this relief, never ending, i.e. how long is the relief going to go on?
Looking back on the thread there seems to be a myriad of solutions that work for one person but not another. Seems to be completely random.
Personally I have had it.
I can't seem to submit and it's April 16th.
Is this issue going to be resolved shortly?
April 16, same error showing
@Yebidiah This is not a TurboTax issue. The CRA has confirmed that this issue is affecting all CRA-certified tax software. TurboTax is in direct contact with senior Government of Canada officials at CRA, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and decisive action to resolve these issues for our customers and all Canadians.
To support taxpayers in navigating these CRA errors, the TurboTax Canada blog is being regularly updated with the latest information on NETFILE error codes, CRA-approved workarounds, and expected resolution dates.
As soon as the issue is resolved, we'll post an update in this thread.
Thank you for your patience and choosing TurboTax.
I finally solved the problem by entering amount of box 52 + box 53 into the bottom right box, "total capital gains , Box 53". delete all the other amounts in the other box 52 and/or box 53.
Make sure the amount in "total capital gains, Box 53" matches the amount in Box 21.
I successfully net filed my return.
Look itās very simple fill out the T3 , but when you put values in 52 and box53 do not put it in the first box use the second boxes 52 and 53 that should remove the errors
As simple as that sounds, it did not work for me!
From what I understand from reading these threads, there are two different types of errors. One is a Turbotax error where you can simply delete box 52 and put the combined values into box 53 and make sure it equals box 21. Some people have successfully Netfiled with this correction. The error that I am encountering like several others is a Netfile error 95365 where the box 21 value is not being populated on line 68140. I still believe this error is being caused by Turbotax and not CRA because when you look at the PDF of your tax return, you can clearly see that line 68140 is empty. The value is not being transferred over from Box 21 on the T3 form. The error still allows you get to the Netfile screen and actually send your return, but it gets rejected by CRA as the capital gains on line 68140 is incorrect.
The incompetence of the TurboTax development team is really starting to show as this software issue was raised over 3 weeks ago and no fix.
When entering canadian capital gains in box 21 make sure the foreign capital gains box does not get populated after entering the split in boxes 52 and 53.
Well people, I actually was able to file my taxes today!! Not sure which solution worked, most recent was deleting boxes 21, 52 and 53 then reentering them manually. Maybe it was a combination of fixes, who knows. I have a suspicion that we will get audited but at least it is filed for now.
Good luck to all of you.
