Fixing error 607 incorrect license key

I entered and checked the license key but received license code is not valid Error code 606.

 Since tax year 2020, there is a difference between a license code (for Desktop) and an Activation Code (for Online). This error code 606 means you are trying to enter a code for TurboTax Online in a Desktop software (or vice versa).

We understand, sometimes, this can be confusing, but on the box (or on the retailer website), you have to choose between TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop. They are not the same software, and codes from one cannot be used in the other one.

If you bought the wrong version, you can get a refund and then buy the one you need. by using this form to get a refund. Make sure to add a clear photo of your receipt, showing the name of the store, the date, the product bought, and the price paid.

The explanation for fixing this error is very vague. I installed desktop version on two computers. One computer runs on Windows 10 and the other one runs on Windows 11. Verification on PC with Windows 10 went very well, no problems. Verification on PC with Windows 11 produced error 607. I tried three times to uninstall Turbo Tax on that PC and received the same error three times. Interesting, Intuit doesn't recommend installing on PC with Windows 10, but clearly PC with Windows 11 has some problems.

As of tax year 2020, TurboTax refers to the installation key as a licence code for TurboTax Download and as an activation code for TurboTax Online.

Your licence code is 16 letters and numbers grouped into four segments. Before you begin troubleshooting, check to make sure you entered the correct licence code.

If you enter your licence code and receive the message The licence code you entered is not valid. Error code: 607. You may have entered an incorrect code.

We also suggest to make sure that you have the administrator rights on the profile you are installing TurboTax on

Turn off your antivirus software and Windows Defender, before installation
