Having problem with Schedule 3 Line 17599, Capital gains/losses from T3 slips. Why is this line not linked to my input on the T3 slips?

I noticed the same problem that you are experiencing. When I talked to a person at Intuit today (March 23), they implied that the problem is because the CRA has not fully resolved its capital gains issue. I don't believe the explanation since splitting the reported amounts has nothing to do with CRA. I just did a manual override (using the F2 key) for lines 17599 and 17600 on schedule 3. I don't Netfile, so I don't care about the warning that TurboTax gives out when overriding. I'm not going to wait until Intuit decides to resolve this software bug.

@BRUEVU Yes, we are waiting on CRA to finalize. Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate your patience.

It's March 27, 2025, and TurboTax Premier has just been updated to Version 00.01.61 Build 6004 068G24, and capital gains is still not being calculated correctly!

Capital gains entered into box 21 of T3s is not showing up in line 17599 of Schedule 3.

@bob2731

Box 21 on the T3 for 2024 is the sum of the amounts in boxes 52 & 53. You need to put whatever is in Box 21 in either 52 or 53. It doesn't matter which as they are both taxed at the 50% rate.

As suggested by TurboTaxSusan, putting the T3's box 21 data into boxes box 21 and 52 in TurboTax does now give me the correct result for capital gains.

Thank you

Yes but the program still won't split between spouses after you dial in the percentage.

Try entering the information/ amounts on two separate T3 entries, one for you and one for  your wife.

It's ridiculous to have to do these work arounds but it will allow you to carry on.

I decided to abandon Turbo Tax and go to a local accountant.

Just cant trust the program to produce correct results.
