I started receiving CPP in September 2023 just after turning 65. I had no trouble filling in my 2023 tax return in Turbotax Canada 2023. I have not worked for several years and have not paid CPP premiums for many years. Turbotax Canada 2023 did not make me pay any CPP premiums for the 2023 tax year.
I am trying to fill in my 2024 tax return in Turbotax Canada 2024 and the software keeps insisting that I pay CPP premiums. I do have 1 rental unit (rented since 2010) that provides me with a small amount of rental income but that's it. How do I stop having CPP premiums added to my 2024 tax return bill? I've looked at Schedule 8 and the Pension worksheet and other forms. Nothing seems to work. I checked and according to CRA, a single rental unit's income would not be considered "self-employed income".
Are you renting, a room, an apartment or a house? For CPP which kind of T-Slip do you have?
Please check this link from CRA to determine if your Rental income considered as Self - Employment income or not.
Thanks for choosing TurboTax.
I am over 65. I am retired and receiving CPP. The T-slip is a T4A(P) slip. Is there another type of T-slip for CPP than this? I've not heard of any other type. I have yet to receive my 2024 T4A(P) slip but I have kept track of the total for 2024 and entered that in Turbotax Canada 2024.
The rental unit is a house. There are no additional services provided. It is a standard monthly rental unit.
I checked the CRA site you mentioned in your post. Most of the documents linked to that page are archived and CRA . Was I supposed to find something there?
So please, how do I stop Turbotax from adding CPP premiums to my tax return? I see no good reason why I would or should be paying this.

I'll wait thank you. I do not have 2 hours right now to fix a problem with your software. I can't file for another 2 months anyway.
