NETFILE ERROR

I enter a date of entry to Canada but when i try to file my return it says : a date of entry was entered but your status is not immigrant. CRA says it is a turbotax problem. More than 6 lenghty coversations with turbotax experts have not solved it. I dont want to file a paper return because i would have to wait for my refund. Any suggestions would be  welcome.

NETFILE ERROR

Try these steps below to troubleshoot.

Switch to Forms Mode by clicking the Forms icon at the bottom or top of your screen.

Open the "ID" form: On the left-hand list of forms, locate and select "ID" (Identification and Personal Information).

Find the residency section: Scroll down to the section titled "Residency Information" or something similar.

Look for the "Date of Entry":  * If a date appears in the "Date of Entry" field, right-click it and choose "Clear" or "Remove Override."

Check the "Residency Status" section. It should be coded as "1" (Resident) for citizens. If it is coded as "4" (Immigrant), set it back to 1.

Check "World Income" (Schedule A): See the list of forms on the left for "Schedule A" or "World Income Worksheet." If it's there, open it and make sure it's blank. Delete any unnecessary information.

If it still doesn't fix the issue as per the product support, you do have to print and mail the return to CRA.

Hope this helps!

NETFILE ERROR

Your process changes my status to a full-year resident. But I only entered Canada on Sept 1, 2025. And the workesheet shows my status as immigrant and Canadian resident. But NETFILE still gives tis error:

@dwpmr Did you choose a non-resident option instead of a province? When you spoke to the CRA, did you confirm your date of entry and your residency status?

I chose BC and CRA account is fine.

WHen I amke the suggested changes to file as a full-yaerr resident, My personal deduction becomes the full year amount and the refund increases significantly. But it is incorrect and if I override it, I still cant use netfile.

NETFILE ERROR

@dwpmr  In Forms Mode, on the INFOWS worksheet, check what selected in the residency section. If #1 Canadian resident is selected, unselect it, and try again.

YUP! Both boxes were checked. Dunno why TurboTax left the resident box checked and dunno why NONE of the half-dozen "experts" I spoke to at TurboTax knew about it. What a FUBAR situation. Took me almost a week of effort to get it done. Thanks for your very useful idea.
