Agree - Form T936 populates correctly “if” you have a net Capital Gain ( adding together gains/losses from T5008 + T3’s). “If” you have a net capital loss when adding together the T5008/T3’s - the T3 capital gain values will not be input into T936 resulting in the error 95365. I checked last year - it worked correctly last year ( I had a net capital loss when adding together the T3’s and T5008’s but my T3 capital gain value was correctly input into the T936 and I could Netfile.
This is not corrected yet. I spent an hour on the phone with the CRA and they are saying it is a software error in Turbo Tax
@pwnguy This is not a TurboTax issue. The CRA has confirmed that this issue is affecting all CRA certified tax software. TurboTax is in direct contact with senior Government of Canada officials at CRA, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and decisive action to resolve these issues for our customers and all Canadians.
To support taxpayers in navigating these CRA errors, the TurboTax Canada blog is being regularly updated with the latest information on NETFILE error codes, CRA-approved workarounds, and expected resolution dates.
@TurboTaxAniqua while I have read what your replies are can you explain why the amounts from the T3 do not make it into the T936. This isn't an issue with the CRA it is a data transfer issue within the software. This is done before there is any, any contact with the CRA and it is not happening.
@TurboTaxAniqua Since you keep saying this is a not a Turbo Tax problem and a CRA problem why don't you put your money where your mouth/keyboard is and pay us all $25 to buy uFile so we can properly efile our taxes with CRA? If I still get the problem with uFile I will pay you back $50.
@blues37326 Thank you for your feedback. As soon as the issue is resolved, we'll update on this thread.
Thank you for your patience and choosing TurboTax.
DMichael, I have been reading the UFILE forums, and it is true, they have the same error. Save your $ and wait for a fix by someone. Get ready to print your return and Canada Post it.
@DanielB65 It looks like you are correct (link below). If that is the case then I am really confused. Why would the agent at Turbo Tax tell me this was a known software issue and it would be resolved on April 14th, 2025 if the problem is across all tax software platforms?
Auto-fill Not Populating Capital Gains (Box 21) - Technical questions - UFile Support Community
@DanielB65 it would be great to do a paper file but what is there to say that the data will fill properly on a paper form when it doesn't in the electronic one.
Great point @blues37326! If it doesn't populate on the screen correctly it probably won't show up on the form T936 when it prints either.
I just got this message from CRA nothing on error code 95365. This doesn't give me a good feeling about what to do.
Error codes setting incorrectly
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is aware of a system issue that is triggering incorrect error codes in EFILE and NETFILE certified software and is preventing some users from being able to submit returns.
Users are receiving one or more of the following error codes:
The CRA is actively working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible and will provide further information and resolution dates as they become available. The CRA is tracking cases affected by these errors, and in the event that an issue is not resolved before the April 30th filing deadline, the CRA intends to provide arrears interest and penalty relief proactively for impacted individuals who file late after having received an incorrect error code that could not be resolved when attempting to file on or before their tax filing deadline.
To be eligible for relief, an impacted filer must have attempted to submit the return electronically on or before April 30th, received the specific error code, and was unsuccessful in resolving the error code despite taking the appropriate corrective action.
