"It's CRA's fault our software is flawed!!"
-Turbotax
@chamnic1 Thanks pointing the instruction on chart A out, But it also says if the total (assuming the negative total) includes an amount from a T Slip, complete lines 15 (68140) - 19. Since this is the last statement, I would think this overrides the preceding statement of not filling in lines 15-19. But I haven’t really tried to understand T936, chart A which is why I use a tax software to fill it in for me (which unfortunately this year it appears to not do). But I believe that it does not affect your taxes owed.
I am still hopeful there is going to fix soon. Although when I spoke to TT they said they do not have a ETA yet but confirmed they are working on it
You are correct Anne04, it does not affect taxes owed which is why forms instructions says not to fill line 2 to 19. This is the frustrating part in all this, if we were still on papers, we would just send it blank. I also wish we could just "overwrite" a specific line.
At this point, I will just send my payment ahead of submitting my return, want to avoid interest and have to fight with CRA as to where the blame was for this.
Hi all,
1. TT form 936 is logically correct - its a CRA error response issue on Netfilling
2. A loss on line 14 should lead to a zero input on line 19. But the CRA check is over flagging this.
3. I am waiting for a CRA correction - but I have a refund.
4. A possible non-sanctioned solution would be to do the following:
a: Eliminate capital gains from your T3 forms
b: Include the effect of those gains on T3 Supp (ie where you show the capital losses from direct sale of investments).
This way you net capital loss is correct. There is no change to your income tax liability. And there is zero capital gains going to line 68140.
Again, I have not tried this because I am in a position that I can wait. But looking for feedback at to whether this is useful?
Found an new TT update available this morning but it didn't fix the problem of passing data from T3's to T936 68140. I will not attempt netfile again at this time, there is no sense in trying.
I see there are multiple threads on the same issue of Netfile Error Code 95365, each with just with slight variation on the threads topic wording.
TurboTaxAniqua Why did Form T936 populate the correct fields in the software last year in the case of a capital loss, but those fields are empty this year for the same capital loss scenario?
Stop avoiding the question.
How much money has TurboTax saved this year by outsourcing your development team?
New update this morning
Finally T936 issue regarding transferring T3 capital gain on line 68140 resolved when having capital losses. I have netfile my return and accepted by CRA
Error code 95365 finally fixed. Now the 1/2 to 1 hour wait to get my Netfile reset so I can file.
Great News. I downloaded the latest TT update just now - T3 value populates correctly in T936. Have not Netfiled yet but expect it will work.
