Where do i enter my spouse's net income

Hello,

I need clarification on this point.

I am filing in 2024, so filing taxes for the 2023 year.

The line in question is asking for information from my spouse's 2023 tax return (line 23400, 23500, etc).

Are we not currently filling out this tax return? How can I have this information if it isn't filed yet? Is it looking for last year's return? I appreciate the clarification.

And yes, you need to put in your spouse's information from the same tax year that you are preparing for yourself. If your spouse/partner hasn't completed their return, you can put in an estimate for now and then put the correct number before you file.

Where do i enter my spouse's net income

Hello, how am i supposed to guess my spouse' income when he has not filed yet...won't he have the same issue of i cant't file properly beacuse my taxes are not complete? ths does not make any sense

@DreaH If your marital status is "Married" or Common Law,' you do need to report your partner's income as per the CRA's requirement to calculate the household income even if you are preparing your returns separately. If you don’t know what it is, you can enter an estimate to continue your return. Then when your spouse has completed their return, you can go back and put the correct income in before you file.

Ok so if I understand properly since my income is easier to calculate my spouse should file his taxes first or start to enter his info and once we have a specific amount I can file mine to obtain the correct info for his taxes? Do I just enter how much I made this year after provincial and federal taxes?
