If I had a dollar for every time I've seen this message in the last 2 weeks, I would have enough money to pay for this buggy software.

TurboTax responded to my private message on Facebook this morning:

 

"Hello, thank you for contacting TurboTax Canada. We just pushed an update that should resolve this error today. If you are using TurboTax Desktop, please check for updates, if TurboTax Online, please clear cache and cookies and maybe even try logging out and logging back in. . Thank you for your patience."

 

There is still no update available for me on the downlaoded version.

I have 66/34 split on T3 between me and my spouse. When I look at the forms, row 68140 in T936 is calculated correctly for me. Zero on my spouses return. In schedule 3 of my return, turbo tax did not calculate the split, it gave me the total amount. My spouses schedule 3 is zero.

 

Turbotax has completely messed up the T3 capital gains calculations.

Try making 2 T3s.   Split the values as you like, and call each of them 100% ownership of their part.  Also do not enter anything into 52, so that 53 equals your split values with 21.   This worked for me.   But I did not have capital losses, and it appears that this doesn't work in those cases.

I was cautiously optimistic when a user messaged that they had received a response via Facebook that an update had been pushed out.  Unfortunately I just went in to see if this update had resolved the issue, and there does not seem to be an update, at least for the desktop version as of yet.

I shut down turbotax completely....and restarted it.   It said it was updating....but no change to the issue.

T936 is NOT showing the values that it should be showing and there is no way to update it.

Goodbye FOREVER, Intuit and TurboTax TurtleTax Canada! I successfully Netfiled me and my wife's tax returns just a few moments ago. It was SO easy and I did not get any Netfile errors.

 

At the time of Netfiling, WealthSimple asked how much I would like to pay for the Basic account. Recall from earlier in this forum thread that I mentioned that they have a "pay what you want" model. They suggested $25 by default, but you can change it to a higher or lower amount, even as low as $0. However, the software worked so perfectly that I did not feel right giving them nothing. Furthermore, I didn't even feel that $25 was enough. Therefore, I paid for their next tier of plan which is called "Plus". I was only $40 for 8 returns and it includes Audit protection! What a great deal for software that actually works!

 

Even though my tax filing is done for this year, I will continue to monitor this thread, for entertainment purposes.
