@HarleyW what competitor product is working? If you let the forums know, then maybe it'll light a fire under TT's ass. I see over on UFILEs forums, they are having the same problem. My bet is CRA approves ONE software, and it's distributed to multiple companies like TurboTax and UFILE to use in their own interfaces. Obviously someone has figured out the problem as you have shown, and implemented a fix into their version.
I agree - just tested as of 4:00 PM EST on April 14th, 2025.
My wife has a T3 with an overall capital loss and form T936 still is NOT populating with the proper information.
We need a fix asap. And we need a full refund for aggravation, pain and suffering.
I think Intuit has lost a boat load of faithful customers.
@testalskfdd This is not a TurboTax issue. The CRA has confirmed that this issue is affecting all CRA certified tax software.
TurboTax is in direct contact with senior Government of Canada officials at CRA, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and decisive action to resolve these issues for our customers and all Canadians.
To support taxpayers in navigating these CRA errors, the TurboTax Canada blog is being regularly updated with the latest information on NETFILE error codes, CRA-approved workarounds, and expected resolution dates.
Once we have an update, we will post it in this thread. We appreciate your patience.
I used EachTax to see what their result were:
https://www.eachtax.com/secure/home.php
I could file for free using this software, but I have too may slips to enter and have already keyed everything into TT. Most of my slips are missing on CRA website, so can't use autofill.
I'm not sure why the Bot keeps saying this is not TT issue? In 2023 I had a capital loss and it completed T936 correctly! It would be nice if a live person actually looked into what everyone is saying....
You have been saying this for the last 3 weeks, then promised a fix today April 14. IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. Please detail how I submit my receipt to get a refund for this software.
Form T936 line line 68140 is not getting populated correctly with a capital loss. We are a few weeks away from the tax filing deadline. I have ZERO faith in this company that it will resolve the issues before then.
I WANT A REFUND
I am in the same boat in that I had to manually enter a lot of slips as they were not available on the CRA site for download into TT. So not easy to switch to different software at this point! This year, I switched from TurboTax Incorporated to My Tax Express for filing my small business return as TT does not allow netfiling of the Alberta provincial return. So, I just downloaded their personal tax software, entered a huge capital loss PLUS a t3 slip with a small capital gain, and same as EachTax, it entered the proper amount on line 68140 on Form T936. So, yes, I do think it is TurboTax that is the problem!
The work around someone suggested combining the Box 52 & 53 values and making sure they agree with box 21 did not work for me.
My error message for code 95365 says that line 68140 of Chart A of Form T936 is blank or less than 17600. Line 68140 auto fills from the sum of box 21's of the T3's and it has NOT done that for me.
Seems to be a Turbo tax issue and not a CRA one. Help please?
@HarleyW If you see one of these error codes, it's due to a CRA issue affecting all tax software in Canada, so you will not be able to accurately file your taxes with any CRA-certified tax software unless you use a CRA-recommended workaround or wait until these issues are resolved by the CRA.
We do not recommend using any workarounds that have not been approved by the CRA, as this might affect the accuracy of your return.
As soon as the issue is resolved, we'll post an update on this thread.
Thank you for your patience and choosing TurboTax.
@TurboTaxAniqua I think what everyone is saying is that the error we get when we try to netfile our return is that there NEEDS to be an amount on line 68140 in TurboTax. That is the error we are all getting from CRA! If one is reporting a net capital gain, TurboTax enters an amount on that line, but if one is reporting a net capital loss, it does not.
Can TurboTax not roll out an update so whatever was reported on line 17600 of Schedule 3 shows up on line 68140, REGARDLESS if one is reporting a gain or loss? That seems to be what other tax software companies are doing as a faster fix. I know that number is not needed on schedule T936 if reporting a loss, and CRA should not require it, BUT if TurboTax could make it happen, then that should make CRA happy when we netfile!
We only have about two weeks left to file our returns, we need a fix!
