I was able to fix my errors by updating my software. I deleted the T3s and re entered them. I also had to enter the same amount from T3 in the two boxes 53 in « other boxes » from that page. 52 was left empty. Somehow the errors cleared.
Message from Intuit:
"We were attempting to resolve this error in collaboration with CRA. We hope to have this resolved by or on April 14th, and our development team is working on it. For our customers' awareness, we have placed a banner in the TurboTax filing section. Thank you for your patience."
I have one Warning about a T3 saying "The sum of capital gains before June 25 in box 52, and capital gains after June 24 in box 53, must equal the total capital gains in box 21. Review and adjust your entries". I called Turbotax support [phone number removed] yesterday and today...Complete nightmare. Useless automated assistant and unhelpful human help. It seems to me the simple fix is for the software to read BOX 21 and ignore boxes 52 and 53. How difficult is that to fix? I tried four times to import data from CRA, but that fails EVERY TIME too. I am so ANGRY at Intuit for this mess. I want a IMMEDIATE fix and a REFUND of for my purchase of TurboTax Standard. This is horrible. Other users say this creates errors in Netfile. I haven't even tried that yet. FIX YOUR SOFTWARE NOW!
I know this isn’t the perfect solution but it might work? Can you enter all in box 53? So if you have 52 and 53 enter the sum of those amounts in box 53 (twice as it is listed twice if it is foreign).
I am also stymied from filing by this Error. I checked for a TurboTax update today but this wasn’t fixed. Please add me to the list to be notified when a fix is provided.
Please add me to email list when this is fixed. I can’t submit either.
I tried deleting my T3’s and reentering with the combined total in box 53. Still the same FIX errors when trying to prepare to netfile. No new software on April 8th as promised in a previous post from TurboTax. Unless they do something for all the added time and frustration, they’ll lose my business next year.
The alert added by TurboTax before Netfile says that "its a CRA issue affecting all tax software in Canada" Funny, there are no news reports of a major issue at CRA causing a long list of error codes that affect EVERY software provider. Has anyone contacted CRA to verify that this problem is, in fact, a CRA issue? In other words, is the alert from TurboTax being truthful with all of us? The frustration and anger continues...
We are aware of this issue, and working with the CRA on a resolution.
We appreciate your patience.
To Moderator Aniqua… I just called a nearby office of H&R Block. They are having NO problems with electronic filing. The statement provided in the TurboTax filing section saying that it’s due to a CRA issue affecting all tax software in Canada is NOT TRUE. My T3 form aligns with the 2024 sample on the CRA website and is identical to the 2023 tax year. I had a capital gain value in Box 21 for 2023 and there was no issue. I have a capital gain value in Box 21 for 2024 that is being ignored by your software. The calculation of my tax owing is, therefore, grossly inaccurate. I’ve spent many hours on this mess. You need to do more than ask us for our patience. Fix the software to read box 21 correctly and compensate us for the purchase of your faulty product.
