Good Morning,
I also tried to file my taxes and Turbo tax prevented it with the error "The sum of capital gains before June 25 in box 52, and capital gains after June 24 in box 53, must equal the total capital gains in box 21. Review and adjust your entries."
This cannot be an issue with the CRA since I also get the message: "your NETFILE errors prevent you from using CRA's NETFILE service"
My return has not even been submitted to the CRA - It is a Turbo Tax issue.
Please add me to the list of people who will be notified when this is fixed.
Thank You
The CRA was going to change how capital gains are processed for 2024, the software companies changed their software to accommodate this change. Then as usual, CRA changed their minds...so the software has to be changed back. It affected all software, an accountant that I was talking to said that their proprietary software needed 5 updates before it got corrected.
The problem with Turbotax is that they are not fast enough with the proper corrections to their software.
@fairwayflunkie Thanks for your feedback; we appreciate it!
We are aware of this issue, and working with the CRA on a resolution.
We appreciate your patience.
Please provide a link to this banner in the 'filing section'. It is not that obvious.

I was also wondering where is this "filing section"? I'm using the Desktop version. I'm not aware of any "filing section" window.
On my T3 I do not have a box 52 and box 53.
The banner is on the top of the screen after you save your returns. The next screen is where you begin to Netfile. Not sure why its not letting me post the photo. On the desktop version, after you save your returns, then the next screen is Audit defense, then the following screen is where the banner is at the top of the page.
@jim228- Do you have an amount in Box 21? Box 21 on the T3 for 2024 is just the sum of the amounts in boxes 52 & 53. You need to put whatever is in Box 21 in either 52 or 53 for it to transfer to Schedule 3. It doesn't matter which, as they are both taxed at the 50% rate, but for some reason using just Box 53 seems to work better for some people.
I have the same error. Please send me an e-mail once it is fixed, I am patiently waiting for my tax refund so please do this in a timely manner.
Thanks!
I reviewed all my T3 slip entries and all are correct. Still, I received the following message after NETFILE:
Your federal return was not accepted by the CRA
Message from CRA
One or more entries in your tax return require correction. The data entered is either invalid, or mandatory information is missing. If you are unable to resolve the issues, please contact your software provider.
Please advise.
