I have the same problem here! I can't submit the NETFILE error b/c of this error:
"The sum of capital gains before June 25 in box 52, and capital gains after June 24 in box 53, must equal the total capital gains in box 21. Review and adjust your entries."
Seeing so many people reporting the same problem most likely means I am not the one making numeric mistakes. It is pretty frustrating that I can't submit NETFILE at the last step.
I am not happy. This morning, I received an update on Turbo Tax. When I downloaded the update, I was hopeful it would fix the Errors T3 Box 52 and 53. It did not. I still cannot file my taxes.
What the update did do was present an offer for me to store my tax information in the TurboTax cloud at an additional cost.
I would appreciate it if you would focus on fixing the T3 issue so I can file my taxes on time rather than using resources for marketing and creating additional revenue-generating services. If you cannot provide adequately provide the service I have already purchased, why would I buy more services?
Please provide an update on when the T3 issue will be fixed. There are less than 16 days until the tax filing deadline.
The CRA has announced systems tax calculator errors that may affect your ability to file. These errors are affecting all CRA certified tax software across Canada.
TurboTax is in direct contact with senior Government of Canada officials at CRA, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and decisive action to resolve these issues for our customers and all Canadians.
If you see one of these error codes, please visit What does my NETFILE error code mean and how do I fix it? .
Thank you for choosing TurboTax
That is not the error we are complaining about. It is the TT error we get before even getting to the NetFile final screens. The TT error says:
John: You have entered an amount of foreign capital gains included in Box 21 on a T3 slip but have not entered the total capital gains in Box 21, or the amount of foreign capital gains is greater than the total capital gains entered in Box 21. Alternatively, you have entered an amount of tax withheld on foreign non-business income attributable to foreign capital gains included in Box 34, but have not entered the total foreign tax on non-business income in Box 34, or the amount is greater than the total entered in Box 34. Verify and correct the amounts.
Was told last week tt was to be updated on April 14 . That’s today. Now what is the problem. Lot of people spending good money for nothing. This is crazy!
input the number on second line of 52 and 53. "Total Capital Gains" should be the correct field.
Thanks for the suggestion. All values in boxes 21, 52, and 53 are 0.
It is a bug in the Turbo Tax program. They have stated that they are working on a resolution.
hi David, can you explain more about your solution for box 52 and 53?
There are two lines of 52 and 53. Input the number on the second line "Total Capital Gain" works for me. 21 should be in the first line.
I stopped in at H&R Block this a.m. to ask if they have they same problem. Apparently they did but it was resolved March 24. Their solution is to enter nothing in box 21, then enter amounts in boxes 52 & 53 and have the program calculate box 21,
Anyone willing to give this a try.
p.s. I changed by username to something more appropriate.
