@Anne04 For all T3 slips in your return: - Remove the amount from Box 52, if applicable (leave it blank) - Enter the sum of Box 52 + Box 53 in Box 53 - Ensure Box 53 equals the amount in Box 21 If the error persists, try rounding the box amounts (21 and 53) to the nearest dollar and submit via NETFILE once more.
A new update was released today, so make sure the software is up to date.
@TurboTaxAniqua Already did this for myself and spouse. I did the move to box 53 before I did my first Netfile. My spouse’s went through OK. I spoke to a specialist and she asked me to round the Box 21/53 entries - Netfile still failed for me and was witnessed by the two agents on my call, unfortunately used up 2 of my allocated 5 attempts. As you can see from the various discussions the error occurs because I had a negative capital gain. I just spoke to a CRA agent and he said that both lines 68140 and 68150 should be filled. And if you look at the explanation in error 95365. It says that even if your T3 slips have a net capital gain of zero the software should enter 1 in this field similarly for field 68150. So unless you have no capital gains at all reported in a T3, these fields should never be zero.
@Anne04 Thank you for giving this a try and for your feedback. Some customers found success with this workaround, but not all did. To resolve this, we are collaborating with CRA. We will update this thread as soon as the problem is fixed.
Thank you for your patience and choosing TurboTax.
@Anne04
On top of cancelling the capital gain changes, government had to make it more complicated than it needed to be by making the rate change effective in the middle of the year. So now we have 2 extra new boxes for each period on T3 (box 52 and 53) for capital gain, software had to be modified to take into account the 2 rates and these new boxes and so on. Worse is that all these changes would only have been needed for one fiscal season.
No wonder this is all a mess.
@chamnic1 Thank you for your feedback. TurboTax is in direct contact with senior Government of Canada officials at CRA, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and decisive action to resolve these issues for our customers and all Canadians. As soon as the issue is resolved, we'll update this thread.
Thank you for your patience and choosing TurboTax.
@TurboTaxAniqua The issue with T936 has been fixed (at least for me and others on various threads ) with this morning’s (April 17th) turboTax update. After verifying that box 68140 was correctly updated I was able to Netfile.
Confirm - as of 10:33 AM on April 17th I was able to successfully netfile my wife's return that had a capital loss and T3s and T5s.
T936 is properly populated.
I managed to Netfile! Updated the software, my T3 entries already matched the Moderator suggestions and it went through!. Hope others are successful too.
@Anne04 This issue has been resolved. Please try again after updating the software. We sincerely thank you for your patience during this period.
