"This will help our customers, as it now saves your license code to your TurboTax account."
"It makes the process much easier, as when you are logged into your account when downloading on a new computer, the license code will already be there for you to click on"
lol - this is complete BS. Don't act like this is a consumer-friendly change. How does this "feature" make my life easier?
Before all I had to do was enter a code and I was good to go. Now I have to coordinate with another person, have them provide me with their password and 2FA code so I can log into THEIR account to enter the code?
This isn't just inconvenient - it's straight up a security and privacy risk.
Why do we need to be sharing sensitive passwords and codes with each other?
Why do I have to file my personal taxes under someone else's account for them to possibly have access to?
And why are we all finding out about this change only AFTER we've purchased the software and go to use it?
Your website makes no mention of this:
This has never been an issue in the 10+ years my family has been using TurboTax.
If you want to make these kinds of anti-consumer changes, fine, it's your product - but acting like this is in the best interest of your loyal customers is just straight up insulting.
@Ormannishe Thank you for your feedback. We will pass this on to the assigned department.
can we know what the assigned department is ? what the heck ?
This has all the makings of Class Action Lawsuit
Your product has existed unchanged for 20 years - the License Code worked for 8 accounts across 3 computers; family members could purchase and share. Now I need to steal my mother's identity to use the same product in the same manner?
And why is the online version 30 bucks per person when the desktop version is 40 bucks for 8 people?
Everything about your business model feels like a scam that you can only get away with before INTUIT spends millions of dollars lobbying the government to make tax filing difficult.
Since I am now obligated to purchase my own copy of tax software in order to maintain the privacy and security of my family's financial information, I will be sure to use another company going forward
@Target_Dad The desktop version can be downloaded on three different devices, but the online version can only be connected to a single account.
We value your input and will forward it to the relevant department.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Hi,
We used to share our turbo tax with family members in different households. we could do this using our own login info. it appears to have changed now? we need to all use the same login info? it seems like all privacy will be lost if we can all see each others returns?
This doesn't seem like a positive change
Thanks,
@kg2695 Similar to the previous year, the TurboTax Online code can only be linked to one account and cannot be applied to more than one account.
Yes, everyone will have access to each other's return and personal data if you share the login credentials.
Are you guys kidding me with this change? Every year I buy the Home and Business version to do my taxes for my small business and split it with my brother who does his simple personal taxes.
This year because he installed his software first I need to use HIS login info just to install the **bleep** software???
Please fix this. This is completely anti-consumer and if not fixed I will not be purchasing ever again. Absolute garbage.
