@CarlNovak I'm in the same boat (T5 for bank interest but not on capital gains causing a glitch), and wondered if you could share what other e-filing options have worked for your friends? Thanks!
I filed my taxes yesterday with Wealthsimple online service and it was free.
I have a T657 form (which is locked) in my return. It is for capital gains. I'm not claiming any capital gains. It appears to be open as it has a record of old capital gains.
Is there any way to remove it from the return, so that I can file?
I reached out to TurboTax
They have responded today:
Hi, I understand that you initially tried to file with T5 on your return and decided to remove it.
There should be an update before this week ends for T5 slips that are causing the locked forms. If you haven't tried filing again, I ask that you please try and check if it will work for you.
For submitting a tax adjustment which I'm assuming you mean making changes to your tax return after filing, there is no payment to use ReFILE or any of the other options for adjusting your return on this page: https://bit.ly/3QMsltl
*** So the good news is, if you removed your T5… once it's functioning properly, you can submit an adjustment request without having to pay extra.
This is unacceptable! I've used TurbTax for years and have never had this issue, even though the price keeps going up. Any problems with their software should have been sorted out well before the tax filing season. If the product couldn't do what it was supposed to do then they shouldn't have sold it to me. Should I look for different tax software, or heaven forbid go back to paper filing?
It is not Turbotax or their software. The forms are locked by the CRA. They have not released the form for use yet. Nobody can file using any of these forms that are locked.
@ChuckC3 These forms are still locked by CRA & RQ and not finalized by yet. Please refer to this link Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven't been finalized?
We do not have any ETA on this yet but as soon a these forms gets finalize we will be updating them in TurboTax.
We appreciate your patience.
