T3 Capital Gain errors fixed by rounding decimals?

Really disappointed in how Turbotax is handling the issue with this section regarding the T3.

I understand that they have no control over when CRA will accept returns with this section but Turbotax online version could have a pop up window or some kind of notice to tell users what is going on.

I spent hours last night re-entering and even starting whole new returns but was still getting the error message about boxes 52 and 53 needing to add up to box 21. (they do,  just basic math)

I have used some form of Turbotax every year for over 20 years but my experience last night has me looking for alternatives .

I know if that form is not approved it applies to all filing software but maybe others will tell people before they redo returns multiple times.

@hfxer Schedule 3 is still locked by CRA and not finalized by CRA yet. Please refer to this link Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven't been finalized?

We do not have any ETA on this yet but as soon a these forms gets finalize we will be updating them in TurboTax for an accurate calculations.

We appreciate your patience.

T3 Capital Gain errors fixed by rounding decimals?

I know schedule 3 is locked by CRA and understand that there is nothing Turbotax can do.

But I ONLY know that from searching online  after hours of entering and re-entering the figures only to have Turbotax keep giving me a warning that boxes 52 and 53 don't total to box 21 when they did.

My issue is it would have been nice for the Turbotax online application to provide that information instead of an error message that did not even make sense.

Instead of the addition warning perhaps a message that that form is not available yet.  Then I wouldn't have spent ages trying figure out what was wrong when everything looked right.

@hfxer Thank you for your feedback. We have passed it on to the assigned department.

I had the same frustrating problem. Eventually I entered the same amount in box 52 to agree and match the amount in box 21. Then I deleted the amount in box 53. This solved the error glitch and the error disappeared. Hope this works for you. Cheers, Michael

I got an email from Turbotax saying the forms are now able to be used.

Logged back in , still getting the same error.

Deleted the form and added it back, still get the error.

Deleted all my T slips and did the import function to get them from CRA and still get the same error.

(the imported figures match my paper slip but I though maybe by importing them Turbotax would put them in a different box but they entered into the same as I had been using)

Still getting the error that the figures in boxes 52 & 53 don't total box 21 but the do total.

And why are there more than one box with the same number ?

Turbotax has two boxes 52 and two box 53 with slightly different text descriptions but my T3 slip just has the numbered box and amount.   No indication which of the Turbotax ones is correct.

I think I have put in enough time with this software and after decades will move on to try something else.

Doubt it will be any worse.

Hi watermans4,

So do you see the schedule 3 in your completed return PDF?

Does it look OK?

I have exactly the same issue.  And have entered and re-entered the T3 and confirmed that Boxes 52 & 53 equal Box 21, but continue to receive the error message so I can't Nettle.

TurboTax needs to fix!

@Bailey946 For the error on the T3 slip not balancing box 52+53 to equal box 21A, trying to enter the sum of 52+53 into box 53 (deleting 52) will fix the problem.

Thank you, that worked.  BUT it is not intuitive and something needs to be changed to avoid confusion.
