Turbo says T3 not balancing box 52+53 to equal box 21 but all figures are correct and they do balance so why the error?

What I eventually did was enter the same amount in box 52 to agree with the amount in box 21. I deleted the amount in box 53. Hey presto, the error message disappeared. Now, I am a happy puppy and hope this works for you. Cheers, Michael

@Jack341 Try changing the values in the boxes and removing the decimal fraction value. For example, if you round up 55.21 in box 52 to 56, 66.32 in box 53 to 67, and 1321.53 in box 21 to 123, try this to fix the error

Bingo.  This worked for me too.  Netfiled & done.  Thanks much

I am confused.  Does this mean that Turbotax will not fix this error?  I would prefer to do my taxes properly.

I agree. Can we please have some confirmation from Turbo Tax about when this will be resolved? Recommending that we enter numbers that are different from our actual T3 can't be an actual solution.

Not different if totals the same.  My T3 doesn’t differentiate between foreign & Canadian capital gains.   And now they’ve change Capital Gains back doesn’t matter before or after June 24.  File was accepted by CRA. If they have an issue they know where to find me.

What I was told by another software provider, which aligns with my suspicions that this scenario was the result of political bureaucracy and bad timing.

Just put the  value in Box 21 into Box 53:

------------------

We understand your concern regarding the error message about Box 52 and Box 53 needing to sum to the value in Box 21. We're aware of this issue and can provide some clarification:
 1. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has recently informed financial institutions that completing Boxes 52 and 53 is not mandatory this year due to the reversal of the Capital Gains changes.
 2. As a result, many financial institutions have not filled in these boxes on the T3 slips, which aligns with what you've observed on your spouse's slips.
 3. This situation is affecting multiple tax software platforms, including ours and TurboTax, as you've noted.

To proceed with your filing:
• If you're unsure which period the gains relate to, you can use Box 53 for the amount shown in Box 21.

I am having an issue with Turbotax as well, related to this.

This is on spouse 50/50% allocation for a joint account.

The issue I am having is as follows:  the Box 52 and Box 53, which sum to Box 21 on the T3 slip are not being split 50/50 to each spouse when they feed into the T1 Schedule 3.  (Boxes 17599 and Boxes 17600).

The software is not splitting the FEED from Box 52 and 53 by the 50% to each spouse, as it does with Box 21 x 50% for each joint spouse,  thus causing issues that they do not sum up.    I was not able to Netfile because of this issue.

I did a test on a single return and this is a non issue because of the 100% inclusion.

Please fix this glitch.   I suggest that since this is a NON issue now the program should simply pull from Box 21 as it was before.

Thanks Robert.  That’s exactly what I did.  Like I said, Netfiled & accepted by CRA

I just tried it again and it still doesn't work.  ON my T3 I have values in box 52 and 53.  I am also splitting the T3 with my wife.  She was able to Netfile but I was not.  Si definitely problem with software
