Turbo says T3 not balancing box 52+53 to equal box 21 but all figures are correct and they do balance so why the error?

I’m having the same issue and I don’t understand what the fix is. I imported the data from CRA,  they in fact add up to the total they say is wrong but is right. What’s the fix?  The fact that the error isn’t mine is exceedingly frustrating and the offers to pay to speak to someone are annoying and not particularly helpful since I’m pretty confident the error isn’t mine.
Please advise

Please refer to my reply on Sunday.  My T3 info, originally downloaded from the CRA was split up into the three types of investments each with capital gains, etc.

As I stated, I deleted all 3 of the downloaded T3s and I went by the paper T3 which I had received, with amalgamated all of the figures on the front of the T3.   It followed through to the end of checking all, and the original error was gone.   I am waiting to file to see if anything else arises by the end of March.  Note too the reply from the ADMINTurboTaxAntiqua Moderator on Sunday about CRA locking Schedule 3, which is another reason why I will not file immediately.  I agree with you, it's a cash grab from "Turbo".  these things should not be resolved by the "community", but by their IT dept.

I don't understand that fix.  I only have a paper T3.  It does not list box 52 or 53 nor have values.... there is a box 21 with a value...

Since 21 has a value and there are no 52 or 53 values, this data check will always fail.   How do you resolve this?

I am having the same issue. I have only ever used the paper form. There are 2 box 53's and 2 box 52's on TT and only one on the actual slip. I have no idea if there is foreign income. I called in to TT and the agent said to just use the "totals" boxes not the "foreign income" ones, but i still have the message. What a pain. Even their own agents dont know what it is happening!

I am having the same issue.  I have tried deleting the form and entering it manually but to no avail.  The numbers are completely correct, boxes 52 and 53 are filling correctly and the sum of the two equals box 21.  What is the problem?

I have checked my T3 numerous times and the information is entered correctly.  However when I try to netfile, I am told boxes 52 and 53 need to equal box 21 (which they do) and if I don't correct this, I can't netfile.

When will this be fixed by TT? This has nothing to do with the CRA issues and all to do with the actual software itself. Is this a bug in your system?

The total value from boxes 52 & 53 do equal the value from box 21, yet TT is still flagging this as an issue. But as noted in another post a while back, the issue is only related when there is a decimal fraction value in the number. So if box 52 is 55.21 and box 53 is 66.32 and box 21 is 121.53 (which is the correct sum of boxes 52 & 53), TT still flag this as an error that needs to be fixed, which means you cannot file your taxes.

But if you change the values in the boxes and remove the decimal fraction value, the error does not show anymore. So if you round up 55.21 in box 52 to 56, 66.32 in box 53 to 67, and 1321.53 in box 21 to 123, then error is fixed.

Hence why the issue is related to the software in TT, as it seems for these particular boxes and this particular form, it has an issue with calculating decimal fraction values.

So I can round up the values up, fix the issues and seems like will be able to file. But is this how it is supposed to work? If I round up and file, and then have issues with the CRA over incorrect info, will TT be held responsible because their software could not properly handle data in their forms?

So what am I supposed to do now? Can you fix the issue or let us know?

Been using TT for many years, but maybe is time to try another software, even though all my forms were entered, and just need to file. But if you can't file, then what is the use of waiting?

Same Problem here as of March 19.

The information in the boxes is correct. I have deleted and re-entered the form. I have tried moving the capital gain to the "foreign" capital gains, gave me other errors AND still says they don't balance.

This is a problem with the TurboTax software. It needs to be fixed. It is preventing people from NetFile-ing.

I spoke to someone at Turbotax today and she told me they are aware of the problem and it is supposed to be fixed by late tomorrow.  We will see...

I hope so. I did "correct" it by rounding off the numbers in 52/53 and 21. When I was doing that, I noticed that, on the summary showing all your T3's, that box 21 total is rounded... that is probably related to the problem.

I waited to file though because I don't want any alarms going off because my numbers are not exactly the same as what was submitted to the CRA...
