Dear TurboTax Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I recently attempted to file a tax return using TurboTax’s NETFILE service but encountered an issue where the system flagged the taxpayer as deceased, making the return ineligible for electronic submission. I understand that paper filing is required in such cases.
Since I had already paid for the NETFILE service, I would like to inquire whether I am eligible for a refund of the fee, given that the service could not be used as intended. Could you kindly clarify:
The refund policy for this scenario.
Any steps I need to take to process the refund.
I appreciate your time and assistance and look forward to your guidance. Please let me know if you require additional details.
Best regards,
Sorry for your loss. To be clear, there are no fees associated with Netfile. TurboTax charges you for using the software to prepare your return. Not every person is qualified to submit an electronic filing to the CRA.
According to the CRA, the final return must be filed by print and mail, not by an electronic submission.
This is unfortunately not eligible criteria for a refund.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
