T2202 Entered, but No Tuition Tax Credit (TTC) – Only Canada Training Credit (CTC) Ineligibility Message

Hi, I’m filing my taxes using TurboTax and ran into some issues after entering my T2202 tuition slip.

  1. Tuition Tax Credit (TTC) is not showing up.

    • My tuition fees are over $100, so I should be eligible for the credit.
    • However, I don’t see any option to apply for the Tuition Tax Credit.
    • Instead, I only get a message saying, “You’re not eligible to receive the Canada Training Credit.”
  2. Canada Training Credit (CTC) error message appears instead.

    • I was under 26 years old in 2024, so I understand that I’m not eligible for CTC.
    • But I want to claim the Tuition Tax Credit (TTC), not the Canada Training Credit (CTC).

How can I ensure that the Tuition Tax Credit is applied correctly this year? Is there a way to manually claim it if TurboTax isn’t applying it automatically?

Thanks in advance!

The tuition credit is a non-refundable tax credit that you can use to reduce the tax that you paid or may have to pay. It can’t be used to generate or increase a refund. So, if you don’t have any taxes payable, you will not get the credit.
