Under Tells Us About Your Dependents
When I enter my 11 year old dependent, who is eligible for the disability tax credit, and is in school it also asks for day care expenses.
When I enter day care expenses of $7445 my refund goes down by 500 dollars.
How do I resolve this technical glitch?
Are you in Ontario & do you have a spouse (or another caregiver for the child)? If so, your refund may have dropped when you answered that you were not the only caregiver for the Childcare Access and Relief from Expenses (CARE) tax credit. That credit is based on the incomes of all of the child's caregivers (including your spouse), not just your own. It's reduced the higher the total of all the caregivers' incomes is.
