When I try to file my husband's return it tells me this:
I did have a warning regarding Schedule 3 for some reason but I made sure the form is cleared of data, I clicked Ignore, but nothing made any difference. It continues to give me the error message. Should I clear the whole return and re-enter everything? I have no idea how the Schedule 3 even came up.
From my own experience, it appears that you answered a question in warnings just before filing and likely answered no. If it is available to you, you can choose refile, once you are sure the entry has been cleared. You will have to go through the return process again, but it should allow you to refile once the error is corrected. If you don't have access to refile, you can redo the return and click ignore on the warning about sale of residence.
Thanks. I guess that's what I get for working on it too soon after a migraine. I don't seem to have a refile option. How do I delete his current return to start a new one?
@LCollettIG Note that when you delete a return, you won't be able to access it again and we won't be able to retrieve the information for you.
The steps below outline how to delete a return for TurboTax Online:
Sign in to TurboTax Online for the tax year of the return you’d like to delete
On the Great to see you again! screen, locate the return
If the return you want to delete has a trash can beside it:
Select the trash can icon
When prompted to confirm the deletion, select Delete
If the return you want to delete doesn't have a trash can beside it:
You will need to start a new return. On the page that displays your tax returns, you'll see two returns: the blank return you just created, and the return you want to delete. Locate the return you want to delete and select its corresponding trash can icon. When prompted to confirm the deletion, select Delete.
If you are using a TurboTax Desktop Version, You can simply Start a new return and delete the old .tt** back up file.
