Tuition Credit Transferred from Child

The online software is limiting the amount transferred to an amount much below the $5000 maximum.  Furthermore, the tuition amount does not impact taxes payable.

Is it doing this on the student's return?

No, the issue is on my return.  It does not allow me to enter the amount of tuition transferred and caps the amount claimed at 1800.  I can’t see how this number is calculated and why it is capped.

How much tax do you owe? It may be capping the amount if you don't need full $5000 to reduce your taxes to zero.
