I have 18,000+ federal and 3000+ provincial tuition credits from previous years.
When submitting my return turbotax auto inputted my tuition credit for 2019 based on previous years, creating a nice tax refund situation (awesome). However, as i was progressing through the software at one point i selected "transfer remaining tuition credits to spouse". The minute I selected that option, i lost all of my tuition credits claimed for 2019 and now owed tax, and he did not benef from the credit on his own return. Now no matter what i do to re-entre info there is no way for me to cancel the selection of transferring my tuition credits to my spouse, and my summary page shows as 0 credits claimed for 2019 now. (I can still adjust my spouse transfer but it just doesnt benefit him on his return so no point)
Anyone have a clue on how this glitch happened or how to fix it?
Search for "Tuition Transfer" using your Find magnifying glass. Then select who is claiming the tuition. On the next page, you can transfer some amount instead of all or not transfer any at all.
I hope this was helpful
