I have 3 tax returns to file.
Previously I have just used Turbo Tax Standard for all 3 returns as my business income was minimal, but this year (2019) I made over $ 50,000 and am wondering if I need to file both a personal return and a business return, and which product is best for my situation.
If you have a business that is not incorporated, you do not file two separate returns. Your business income is included on your personal T1-General Tax Return.
You can use any version to prepare your tax return with Self-Employed income, even Free! When you have any type of "Self-Employment" you must complete the T2125 - Statement of Business Activities, and every version of TurboTax will allow you to complete this statement.
You can always do a "test drive" and start with a lower version of our Online software, then if you would like more guidance, you can upgrade and your information will carry over to the upgraded version. Just remember you cannot "downgrade" back to the lower version. With the Online version, you do not pay until you complete your return.
Here's a link to the complete TurboTax line-up: TurboTax Online Software
If you prefer to use our Download version and install TurboTax directly on your computer, you'll need to purchase a version of TurboTax and install it. A description of these different versions can be found here: TurboTax Download Version
