I totally agree with you that the Schedule 3 form on the CRA site and in TurboTax are now identical, both with ver. 5000 -S3 E(24).
So that means that since February 10, 2025, the CRA has been allowing the Schedule 3 form to be downloaded, printed, filled in by hand, and submitted by mail.
That does not necessarily mean that the CRA is now ready to process mailed in Schedule 3 forms, nor that the CRA is ready to receive electronic submissions of the same form.
In his CTV interview of March 4, reported by Bloomberg News, CRA spokesperson Charles Drouin stated that the CRA would not be ready to receive capital gains related forms until mid March to end March.
So even if the desktop TurboTax software has the latest capital gains forms and has been re-worked to fill those forms properly, that may not mean that TurboTax has been authorized to use Netfile just yet.
However, I agree with you that other tax preparation packages, including TurboTax, have been able to introduce workarounds that allows some tax returns to be Netfiled after removing empty capital gains forms.
And to add additional confusion, as of yesterday, March 14, the CRA website states that TurboTax for Windows has been certified (for capital gains), but not the on-line version or the mobile version ("certification in process").
in my case Schedule 3 does not apply but I still can't file since Statement of Farming Activities (T2042) is not finalized either? what is holding that up? I called and was told it would be ready after March 14, 2-25 ie today!
Tell me why E-FILE is not having BS with its forms !!!!!!!!
A lot may depend on what E-FILE is doing to your return to make it succeed.
How much data is U-FILE not transmitting in order to expedite your return, which would otherwise fail?
I filed a full return with GenuTax, Schedule 657 and 3, fully populated. No problem.
TurboTax gives us BS. Get your money back.
Valid points. I still think the issue is mainly with the CRA and not so much with turbotax. Hopefully they get their &%$! sorted out soon!
100% with TurboTax. I use them now for over 12 years, and I am sick and tired of their BS.
I filed my returns now with same refund as TT with Designated Property and Capital Losses, no issues with other software.
@1972BDP That is correct we waiting for CRA to finalize Schedule 3. We appreciate your patience.
After using their software since 2000, I’m officially done. I’ve just managed to file my taxes using WealthSimple with Schedule 3. TT still as of today wouldn’t let me.
With their ridiculous policy about installing the software 3 times only, and no way to deauthorize an install…and several hours on the phone trying to prove I owned the 2023 software, I gave up and filed with WS. Then when doing my 2024 taxes both TT and WS would not allow me to file due to Schedule 3 / capital gains. But now today I filed with WS. They they even have a notice above your their tax filing page on WS to say the CRA are now allowing Netfile with capital gains.
So this absolutely is TT’s issue and not the CRA.
THANK YOU INTUIT FOR HELPING ME SWITCH TO A COMPETITOR.
My first and last ever post. That’s how p’ed off I am at Intuit this year.
Schedule 3 and other locked forms will be fixed March 20th as per turbotax rep.
Just a few more days wait :(
