I was on another community thread and I was unable to post on that one as it seems to have been locked. I wanted to share with the community my final experience with the new update:
Here it is: My comments fall in line with the discussion on the other thread...
I tried the new update and I just wanted to review my experience.
My situation: I have a T3 with an amount in Box 21, amongst other boxes and I do not have to split my capital income with my spouse or vice-versa...I am a Quebec resident, so I have to netfile to both governments.
To be honest I do not know what the new update (March 27) enhancements were. I was able to Netfile without any errors.
For the T3, I inputted in Box 53 the exact amount that was in BOX 21, in TT.
Also, I had a consolidated T5008 which summarized my yearly transactions for one of my Investment funds. Since it is a summary, no date is on the T5008. In order for TT to recognize the value in the T5008, you HAVE TO PUT IN A DATE: I inputted December 31, 2024. The values were then recognized and tabulated. Not doing so TT does nothing.
After Netfiling, I played around with the new version: I observed the following: On a T3, the capital gains are still not split with your spouse (Assuming a 50-50 split). The total amount amount is given to the person who was inputting the gains in TT. All of the other entries were split. So I do not know what the new version corrected.
In summary, and this may be my last post on the subject, TT really deceived me this year. Slow turn around, no fix yet for what I consider a major and sizeable issue. The deployment of workarounds is totally unacceptable as the integrity of the forms that we received from the different financial institutions were being manipulated. I have the rest of 2025 to look for an alternative for this years taxes. Also, for a heads up, when issuing updates, follow the industry standards of many companies and outline what is exactly in this new version.
