Why am I getting northern resident deduction? I do not qualify. How do I get rid of it?

I answered skip at that deduction. How do I delete that deduction?

Are you seeing something next to the line "Northern residents/additional ded." on the "Here's your deductions summary" page? If so, that line is not just for the Northern Residents Deduction, it's also for Additional Deductions as well.

I used the online version, made sure this was zero'd out and it still filed a deduction.  Now CRA is asking me about it.  

How do I make sure that this doesn't happen in the future?

@user17560714386 Was there something on Line 25500 - Northern residents deductions? If so you may not have removed all the info from the Northern residents deductions section.

Next year just make sure that it's not selected when you're going through the Tax Profile at the start of the return.

Thank you for the quick response.  I had this happen on my 2023 return so I was aware of it and I took what I believed to be every precaution to make sure that it didn't populate this field again in 2024.  All the entries for this were blank.  

Hopefully this doesn't happen with my 2025 return as I have been using Turbo Tax to file my returns for many many years and I wouldn't want to have to stop doing it now 🙂
