TurboTax automatically optimizes your donation contributions for the best outcome on your federal taxes. In some cases, this will still result in a small tax payable because of provincial calculations.

Some people choose to override the optimization to reduce their tax payable in the current year, rather than carrying forward the difference to a future year which is more optimal in the long term.

If you're not confident in overriding the optimization, just leave it as is.
