It won’t let me estimate a number, or put in any number. I get an error saying I need the number in order to continue and then it tells me how to calculate it, which isn’t helpful because it won’t accept any number anyway.
I have a pretty good estimate, but it still won’t take it. Is it looking for a very specific number before it lets you continue?!
@RachB Can you please provide more information about your problem? What is the exact error message that you are getting? Are you using TurboTax Desktop or TurboTax Online?
My wife and I are filing seperately and we are both getting this same error:
It doesn't matter what ammount you enter for this and neither of us can get the exact number it wants becuase we cannot get past this step.
So how do we proceed?
Line 23400 less Line 23500 equals Line 23600. So, if your spouse didn't have any social benefit repayments, then Line 23400 is the same as Line 23600. Line 23400 is not on the detailed summary; you will see it on your T1.
You can put in an estimate for now and then enter the correct amount before you file.
After spending close to an hour on the phone with support yesterday it was determined that that field will accept no value at all and is infact a bug.
The work around is to say Yes to the zero dollar question and continue. You will come across this same screen further in and again it will not accept any value, and agains you say yes to zero dollar.
My wife and I both did this and so far it hasn't had any negative impact on our filing.
@Jkoss76 Thank you for the feedback. We have taken note of it and will forward it to the relevant department.
