Getting started
I decided to try the online version of TurboTax. TurboTax indicates it’s completely secure. I started the return, and about three days later got an email directly from TurboTax saying “we see that you have entered your W-2 information. Keep going and finish up TurboTax and file your taxes.”.
the online version of course charges you only when you file your taxes, so this is TurboTax trying to get their money by nagging me to finish your return. But more shockingly TurboTax is telling me that they are monitoring my account and they know that I put in my W-2, and probably everything that I put there. This is utterly shocking that a company will monitor your progress and know exactly what you’re putting in. How can this be secure when big brother is monitoring you.
since I’ve invested nothing so far in TurboTax, I have decided to not finish the return and switched to H&R Block downloadable version.

@sledgeds TurboTax Canada 2025 is compatible with Windows 10, but we recommend using Windows 11. When you install the desktop version, you will be prompted to choose between Windows 10 and Windows 11. You can then proceed with the installation.

Not sure how I got in the Canada site but I did. That brings up the question, does that apply to the US version?

I'm in Canada, no problem downloading TT for 2025, I chose the W10 option. There is a BUT to using it, you have to install the W10 Extended Service Update which extends W10 to Oct 13 2026.
I've completed my 2025 taxes and now I'm holding my breath that NETFILE will work at the end of this month.
IF Turbo Tax Netfile successfully OR fails to file my tax return I will report back here.

@sledgeds For US TurboTax support, please visit their website: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/
@louroberts NETFILE is a service provided by the CRA. TurboTax connects to it in the same way any other tax software does.

So apparently this tech advise is incorrect.
Just bought my TurboTax2025 from Costco, downloaded the software and try to install it on my Surface Pro4 that runs on Windows 10 and TurboTax will not let me install on my desktop and forces me to go to their online desktop.
This is ridiculous lame 😡😡😡 !!

Are you in the USA or Canada? I believe this is the Canadian Community board.
I have a Surface 3 (circa 2019) using W10 too. No problem installing Turto Tax "STANDARD" for 2025. I had a choice, W11 or W10 and selected W10.
Looks like things might be different for US TT users.

Are you in Canada or the USA? IF you're in Canada did you install the W10 Extended Service which should be under Settings,/Updates & Security in the Menu on left side of your screen.
My "Windows Update" shows W10 is up to date as of 3 pm today. I have Updates for W10 ON and above the W10 updates is a the MS banner "W11, Version 25H2 is ready - and it's Free" sales pitch which I ignore.
Further down it states "Your PC is enrolled to get Extended Security Updates".
