Hello, 

I have had turbo tax from 2015 to 2024 installed on 1 laptop.  I still have the CD / downloads and activation keys for each year.  my laptop has now seen better days and is end of life and not working well.  How and can I re-install and activate on another laptop?  for continuity.  is that possible?  I have 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024 CDs installed and keys available.

You can install TurboTax Desktop on up to 3 computers. 

For newer version of TurboTax Desktop (2020 onwards) you should just be able to enter the Licence code during the installation. 2023 & 2024 require you to make an Intuit account before you can enter a code.

Please note that we currently only support TurboTax Desktop 2018 & onwards. Older versions may not work on current versions of Windows or be able to update themselves.

Thank-you so much, your reply was most helpful.  I was able to activate all older versions on different device.

Another question my 2016 edition requires update to open a return.  How do I go about updating older versions like 2016 or 2018.

The downloads for 2017 & 2018 still work (as of March 4th 2025) and these are the last versions. You can download them and run the installer to update them.

The link I have for 2016 no longer works, and the old update servers are gone.
